On November 7, multiple burglaries occurred in Chicago's North Center and McKinley Park neighborhoods, affecting more than a dozen businesses. In these incidents, burglars stole cash registers and other property from local outlets, primarily targeting restaurants and cafes, as stated by the Fox 32 Chicago.
These burglaries started at around 1:15 a.m. in the North Center neighborhood, mainly on North Lincoln Avenue. The police were alerted after several front windows of the businesses were broken. Upon inspection, it was found that a file cabinet was left outside and two cash registers were missing, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Burglars begins to strike in the McKinley Park neighborhood around 2 a.m., vandalizing various businesses around the 2200 block of West 35th Street, the 3400 block of South Archer Avenue, and the 300 block of West 31st Street in the Bridgeport neighborhood. Despite the serious nature of these crimes, there have been no arrests at the time of this report and investigations are ongoing.
Other burglaries were also reported in Lake View and Ravenswood. Similar to the previous break-ins, thieves broke the front windows or glass doors to enter businesses and stole cash registers or money, as reported by Fox 32 Chicago.
