Over the past weekend, Chicago saw three teenagers killed and several more injured due to gun violence. A particularly grave incident involved the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Leontaye Taylor inside an Austin home in the 100-block of North Parkside Avenue on Saturday night, following a conflict with a man. The Chicago Sun-Times reports authorities are searching for a 33-year-old man of interest, but as yet, no arrests have been made.
In another instance, a 17-year-old boy was seriously injured when he was shot in the elbow in the Little Village neighborhood on Sunday morning. The shooter remains at large, having escaped the scene. The Chicago Sun-Times states the victim, now in Mt. Sinai Hospital, is in good condition. No one has been apprehended in connection to the shooting.
Yet another case involved a 14-year-old boy who was shot multiple times. Refusing to give any information about the incident to the police, the details remain unclear. No leads have been reported in the investigation into this shooting, as per the Chicago Sun-Times.
Seven other victims suffered from gun violence this weekend across the city. This marks just one aspect of a much bigger problem; 19 people were shot across Chicago during the weekend, two of them fatally, according to ABC 7 Chicago.
