The father, Robert Crimo Jr., accepted a plea deal resulting in a 60-day imprisonment, two years of probation, and 100 hours of community service. The plea comes despite his son's documented mental illness and violent threats within their home. Crimo Jr. endorsed his son's firearms ownership card while he was still a minor.
This case traces its history to December 2019, when Crimo Jr. signed an affidavit permitting his still-underaged son to acquire his state firearm owner's ID card. Subsequently in January 2020, Crimo III had reportedly purchased a military-style rifle from a Kentucky gun shop via an online transaction.
