A 42-year-old East St. Louis man, Aaron Wallace, has been convicted of meth distribution by a federal jury. According to a recent press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of Illinois, Wallace was charged with distributing ounce quantities of methamphetamine within St. Clair County, Illinois.
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) initiated an investigation into Wallace back in 2020 after suspecting Wallace of selling large quantities of crystal meth in St. Clair County. A confidential informant cooperating with the DEA successfully made a purchase of four ounces of crystal meth from Wallace in East St. Louis, according to the press release. The DEA and U.S. Marshals Service were instrumental in securing the conviction.
In praising the efforts of the DEA, U.S. Attorney Rachelle Aud Crowe highlighted their vital role in combating meth dealing in southern Illinois. She also emphasized the effectiveness of collaborative law enforcement efforts in eliminating drug trafficking.
Wallace's sentencing is scheduled for February 6, 2024, and Assistant U.S. Attorneys Daniel Kapsak and Daniel Carraway have been assigned to prosecute the case.
