A car thief led Fairfield police on a lively pursuit, only to be thwarted by a locked closet. The incident unfolded early Wednesday when Officer Swoyer spotted a stolen car on North Texas Street per the Fairfield Police Department's Facebook page.
As officers prepared to make a move, the stolen vehicle tried to escape. Officer A. Diaz initiated a high-speed chase that concluded on El Toro Court after the stolen car broke down. Undeterred, the suspect fled on foot, evading Officers Swoyer and Lewis near Del Paso Court.
A tight perimeter was established, involving Solano County Sheriff’s Deputies and a police K9. Detective Miller, scrutinizing city surveillance footage, identified the suspect entering a home on Del Paso Court.
Law enforcement surrounded the house, and after the occupants were cleared, officers conducted a thorough search. The suspect, Jacob Fields, 25, was discovered hidden in a locked closet. Fields was swiftly apprehended without further incident.
The Fairfield PD expressed gratitude to their allies, the Solano County Sheriff's Office, in their social media update, marking another successful operation.
