A suspect has been cuffed and indicted on charges of shooting up the State Fair of Texas, turning a festive evening into a scene of chaos and horror. A grand jury has slammed Cameron Turner, the alleged gunman, with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after the mid-October bloodshed according to FOX 4 News.
Tensions reached a sinister peak when, on an October night thick with the scent of corn dogs and cotton candy, gunfire instead began to quickly fill the ears of fair-goers. Turner initially claimed to have been trying to defend himself and his family. However, investigators could find no evidence that he was accompanied by relatives at the fair and have since dismantled his claims of self-protection. In fact, detectives concluded Turner was flying solo when he drew his weapon within the bustling food court.
During the ensuing pandemonium, three innocents were struck by Turner's bullets and rushed to local hospitals for treatment, their evening's revelries were cataclysmically cut short. Details remain murky on how Turner managed to smuggle a handgun past security controls, especially considering he lacked a license to carry as FOX 4 News highlighted.
An arrest warrant with details at odds with Turner's narrative was brought to light by CBS News, where security footage appeared to damningly show several men initially advancing toward Turner but then one exchanging words with him before chaos ensued. Following the verbal altercation, Turner allegedly proceeded to pull out a handgun and fire off multiple rounds, striking the man who confronted him and two others in the vicinity.
Now behind bars at the Dallas County Jail, Turner is facing over a whopping $1.5 million in bonds per CBS NEWS.
