A fatal accident took place in Encinitas last Friday, shortly after 5:00 p.m., when a driver collided with a tree on N. Coast Highway 101, resulting in his death. Upon arrival, the North Coastal Sheriff's Station deputies and paramedics couldn't revive the 52-year-old victim. His identity is yet to be disclosed until the next of kin is notified.
The definite cause of the accident remains undetermined. Initial investigation suggests that the car was traveling northbound on N. Coast Highway 101 when it veered off the road and hit the tree.
As to whether alcohol or drugs contributed, this is yet to be confirmed by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
