Earlier today, a pedestrian was fatally struck by a 2020 Ford F250 pickup on Route 24 in Fall River, Massachusetts. The Massachusetts State Police reported that the victim, an adult woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not been made public.
Both Massachusetts State Troopers and the Fall River Fire Department responded to the incident as stated in the MSP report. The authorities are investigating why the pedestrian was on the highway during that time.
Several units are working thoroughly to investigate the incident, such as the State Police-Dartmouth Barracks, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the State Police Detective Unit for Bristol County. Together, they are hoping to piece together the circumstances leading up to the accident.
In order to quickly respond to the accident and start the investigation, Route 24 North was briefly closed. This closure did disrupt morning traffic in Fall River. The lanes were reopened by 8:45 AM, allowing traffic to return to its usual flow.
