An officer patrolling the 5900 block of East 2nd Street spotted a car sporting a "beautifully handwritten license plate." The Benicia Police Department shared on Facebook that the eyeballed vehicle was, in fact, reported stolen out of Alameda. The driver, identified as Angel Rachiene Bolton, 38, was arrested at approximately 1:26 a.m. without incident and found herself behind bars in Solano County jail.
Ms. Bolton, a black female standing 5'6" and weighing 173 pounds with brown hair and eyes, as noted on the Benicia Police Department's crime graphics website, faced serious charges. Taken into custody, she has been accused of possession of a stolen vehicle—a felony charge—alongside a misdemeanor for possessing unlawful paraphernalia.
The charges, serious in their weight, could see Bolton facing significant time. As detailed by the authorities, Bolton was charged with 496D(A) PC for the possession of a stolen vehicle or vessel and had an additional charge under 11364(A) HS for possessing unlawful paraphernalia. The specifics of these allegations have yet to unravel in court, but they paint a stark portrait of the fine line between lawfulness and transgression.
"We know we are not superheroes, but just FYI this is NOT a way to get one over on us," written on the Facebook post, illustrated that Benicia Police could not waver.
