Prince Diaz, a 20-year-old Springfield resident, was apprehended by federal marshals in Puerto Rico earlier today. Diaz is one of three suspects currently facing charges in connection with the stabbing death of 24-year-old Maurice Crump in Chicopee on August 6. His arrest was reported by Masslive. Diaz is now awaiting extradition back to Massachusetts.
Originally, authorities were notified of the incident on August 6 at about 3 p.m. Maurice Crump was found with what appeared to be a stab wound and was rushed to the Baystate Medical Center. Tragically, he could not be saved from his injuries as reported by Masslive. Two others have since been arrested and charged with the homicide.
Danny Ramos, 41, from Springfield, faces charges as an accessory to murder after the fact according to Western Mass News. Ramos is being held without bail pending a May 13, 2024, court date. Another suspect, 21-year-old Alex Ramos, is being accused of misleading a police officer. His bail has been set at $10,000, with a court hearing scheduled for December 11.
