A Gurnee police officer rescued a driver from a burning vehicle on Illinois Route 41 on the evening of Friday, following a traffic stop and arrest of a driver with an outstanding warrant according to Fox 32 Chicago.

While the officer was waiting in his squad car after arrest, the Chevrolet Trax crashed into the rear of it, catching fire at approximately eleven o'clock in the evening as stated in Daily Herald news.

The officer, who was unharmed, swiftly rescued the 63-year-old driver from the flaming Chevrolet. A 61-year-old man and a 12-year-old girl from the same car freed themselves without assistance. They received minor injuries and were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Authorities suspect that the driver may have been intoxicated, but no charges have yet been announced as per Fox 32 Chicago. The investigation remains ongoing while Route 41 was closed for a span of hours.
