On Sunday, October 26, Sammy Sultan, a 50-year-old from Hayward, California, was sentenced to 27 months in prison with three years of supervised release for threatening communications made to the Tufts University Police Department (TUPD) in May 2021, reported by  United States Department of Justice

The man's previous conviction was in December 2017 when he admitted to making hundreds of obscene and threatening phone calls to police departments in California's Northern District. For these crimes, he was sentenced to two years in prison, according to the DOJ.

During the 2021 ordeal, Sultan made eight calls to TUPD, which included six specific threats. Unnervingly, Sultan even played recordings of a taser activating and a pistol racking. Despite exhaustive searches by TUPD and local police of numerous buildings on campus, they were unable to locate Sultan.
