A car crash in downtown Healdsburg yesterday disrupted the peaceful neighborhood. A vehicle driven by 45-year-old Juan Salazarmerino crashed into several parked cars. The Healdsburg Police Department (HPD) reported that Salazarmerino was arrested and taken to Sonoma County Jail on charges of driving under the influence.
Local residents played a role in apprehending the suspect with their quick calls to 911 to report the hit-and-run incident. The response demonstrated a strong sense of community safety and vigilance, which was acknowledged by the HPD.
The HPD and the Sonoma County Sheriff's Helicopter, Henry-1, work together to locate and arrest the suspect on the 200 block of Bailhache Av. Further investigations revealed Salazarmerino's blood alcohol level was more than 3.5 times the legal limit.
In the Healdsburg Police Department's Facebook post, they highlighted the significant role local residents played in resolving the situation effectively and promptly.
