In Houston's Northside High School, a 16-year-old student was shot amid a sidewalk scuffle, authorities said. The violence broke out shortly before 1 p.m. bell, Tuesday, in the 2300 block of Fulton Street, according to a report by ABC13.
Houston Police officers were patrolling the area when they suddenly heard gunshots and had to immediately initiate a chase down Fulton Street to intercept the suspects. As per the KIAH report, one suspect was successfully detained at the scene while another bolted, prompting a manhunt. "We have one detained," Houston Police Department Executive Assistant Chief Larry Satterwhite told ABC13, "We have one at the hospital, and the third one our officers saw was not taken into custody. He went northbound, and we don't know where he went."
An official statement from HISD, obtained by ABC13, read, "A student was injured in an incident involving a gun outside Northside High School this afternoon and is receiving treatment. Police are investigating the incident. The school was temporarily on lockdown."
