Earlier this year, on October 10, the Pittsfield Police Department (PPD) has confirmed that human remains discovered in Wahconah Park belong to 43-year-old Luis Lopez-Lopez. The deceased had recent addresses in both Pittsfield and Greenfield, MA according to Pittsfield Police Department.
The remains were discovered by a city employee maintaining the park. The location of the remains was away from the baseball field area within the park. Due to the unusual circumstances, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner got involved in the case.
Identifying the remains took a total of seventeen days; the Medical Examiner's office confirmed the identity as Luis Lopez-Lopez on October 27. His cause of death and circumstances remain under investigation, as authorities are working to unravel the details surrounding his apparent demise.
