As winter arrives in Illinois, the so-called 'Land of Lincoln' shines a beacon of hope for state veterans. The Illinois Lottery, together with the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs (IDVA), have introduced the 2023 Winter Riches Instant Ticket. A unique initiative, the lottery ticket proceeds directly benefit statewide veterans' support groups. Illinois.gov reports that since 2006, the ticket has raised over $21 million for around 400 veterans' organizations.
Harold Mays, the Illinois Lottery Director, and Terry Prince, the IDVA Director, expressed their gratitude for this partnership, remarking on the mutual benefits it provides. Beyond amusing lottery players, the real win comes from the much-needed aid granted to servicemen and women in America. The Veterans' Cash Grants, sourced from the lottery tickets, are directed towards an array of programs benefiting Illinois veterans, says veterans.illinois.gov.
In a time when veteran assistance is of paramount importance, Illinois' commitment to pour 100 percent of the tickets' profit into organizations offering housing, long-term care and employment services, disability benefits, and PTSD treatments is highly commendable. Establishing a standard for other states to follow, Illinois has fruitfully carved an essential role in the lives of the veterans who served their country. These Veterans' Cash Grants are offered to eligible organizations that have efficiently catered to or are keen on extending their services to aid veterans.
The Illinois Lottery and IDVA, to support initiatives, have catalyzed the progress of numerous essential schemes throughout the state, instilling hope in many of our often overlooked veterans. The Illinois Lottery grants its players the chance to invest in nation-building while also enjoying the game. Through their participation, they play a part in the welfare of soldiers, showcasing an excellent integration of fun and societal accountability.
Priced at $2, the 2023 Winter Riches Instant Ticket is available where all Illinois Lottery tickets are sold. In addition to supporting vital resources for veterans' organizations, the ticket offers regular lottery prizes.
