
Earlier today, Barnstable Superior Court has indicted Randy Patterson-Gerber, 25, formerly of Centerville, MA, for first-degree murder. This charge relates to the 2021 death of a six-week-old infant. The indictment comes two years after the event on September 7, 2021, upon receiving a report of an unresponsive infant, Barnstable police headed to the scene.
On arriving on the aforementioned day, officers found the baby discolored and cold, appearing lifeless. Resuscitation attempts were promptly made and the infant was rushed to a Boston hospital where the baby unfortunately passed. The Cape & Islands District Attorney's Office's Unsolved Homicide Unit, together with the Barnstable Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to have jointly consulted on this case ever since.
According to Boston25 News, the charges levied against Patterson-Gerber mark an advancement in the ongoing investigation. His arraignment in Barnstable Superior Court is set for November 20, 2023. To date, there has been no additional disclosure concerning the infant's cause of death or the specific role Patterson-Gerber is speculated to have.
