An investigation is underway and ongoing regarding the three-vehicle accident on Route 3 northbound in Billerica that took place on Wednesday, November 15. A fuel tanker was involved, but as the Massachusetts State Police News reports, initial evidence, including a dash-cam video, does not hold the tanker driver accountable for the incident.
The State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section routinely conducts an inspection of the tanker post-accident. This procedure, common with crashes involving large commercial vehicles, is not indicative of any suspicions regarding mechanical defects or regulation breaches.At the time of the accident, no severe injuries were reported. Yesterday, the crash site was cleared, and all lanes were reopened.
