
A Lansing father stands accused of murdering his 2-month-old daughter as FOX 32 Chicago reports. The accused, 24-year-old Joshua B. McGhee, faces charges of inflicting fatal blunt force trauma to the infant's head and failing to register as a sex offender—both felonies.
CBS News states that Lansing police found an unresponsive baby girl at a Motel 6 in south suburban Lansing on the night of the incident. Despite attempts to resuscitate the child, she was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
After conducting investigations, Lansing and Illinois State Police announced the infant's death' to be a homicide as the Lake County Indiana Medical Examiner's Office determined blunt force trauma to her head caused her death. Having interviewed people at the scene, police have charged Joshua B. McGhee with causing the death of his daughter as reported by CBS News.
McGhee's detention hearing is scheduled for Friday in Cook County.
