Troop D Community Action Team Troopers collaborated with New Bedford Police Department members, aiding in the preparation and deliverance of Thanksgiving meals to families in need. This partnership, facilitated by the Hope Evangelical Community Church in Dartmouth, resulted in the assembly of 30 boxes. Each packed with festive Thanksgiving meal ingredients and a nutritious breakfast for the subsequent morning. This commendable act, which took place last Tuesday, represents the second consecutive year that the police force has had the privilege to serve their community in such a manner.
This benevolent initiative is not the first from the New Bedford Police Department. Earlier in the year, the department worked alongside local organizations in a similar manner to support their community. A press release reveals that upon packing the boxes they delivered the meals the next day to Presidential Heights Housing in New Bedford, ensuring families had the provisions for a festive Thanksgiving meal. Recognition is due to the Hope Evangelical Church, who supplied the meals and to community leaders for their significant contribution in the manifestation of this event.
Though the Thanksgiving initiative is heartening, it draws attention to the enduring challenges that communities nationwide face. The officers expressed their appreciation to the Presidential Heights Resident Services Manager who helped to identify the meal recipients, emphasizing the significance of community leaders in supporting vulnerable community members.
