
On the evening of Tuesday, November 7, officers in New Bedford were engaged in a parallel investigation of an unrelated gun arrest and a stabbing incident. Responding to a stabbing call near Collette St. and Ashley Blvd., officers encountered and arrested an individual carrying a loaded Glock handgun, as reported by the New Bedford Police Department.
Officers Eric Boulay and Jack Cordeiro apprehended Victor Abraham Rodriguez Ortiz, a 22-year-old local resident. Ortiz, who was intending to leave the area, was found in possession of a firearm, leading to his arrest on charges of carrying a loaded firearm without a license.
Simultaneously, emergency medical officers transported the stabbing victim to the hospital for treatment. Although his injuries were not considered life-threatening, he was not forthcoming with details about the attack.
