Earlier today, a daring rescue transpired in Portland, Maine. A lobsterman plunged from his vessel to save a driver ensnared in a sinking car submerged in Casco Bay. Earlier in the day, the car had been reported stolen and entered the bay around noon with the 33-year-old driver trapped inside according to the Boston Globe. While police and fire crews endeavored to gain entry into the submerged vehicle, an individual from a nearby lobster boat played a crucial role in the rescue.
Manny Kourinos, with 20 years of diving experience, did not hesitate to jump into the icy waters to assist first responders in extracting the driver from the submerged vehicle.
Undoubtedly, the rescue operation was challenging due to the water's temperature, a frigid 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees Celsius). Yet, thanks to the efforts of all parties involved, the driver was saved. Initially unresponsive and pulseless, the driver was later revived and received treatment at Maine Medical Center. They are currently in stable condition as reported by the Gazettextra.
The Portland police are still undertaking the task of piecing the incident together.
