An unprecedented event unfolded on November 15 with the record-breaking win of the biggest Texas Lottery prize. A Meg Millions ticket worth $360 million was claimed by South Dakota's Blue Yucca Trust, as reported by KXAN. This trust, aimed at protecting the privacy of lottery winners, took home the largest payout in the lottery's history.
The Blue Yucca Trust of Rapid City, South Dakota, opting for the cash value, garnered a pre-tax total of $157,367,045, setting a new standard for Texas Lottery prizes.
Sold at a San Angelo's Stripes convenience store, the Mega Millions ticket was part of the October 6 drawing. This lucky break also bestowed the selling store a reward of $1 million. The last time a significant Texas Lottery prize was claimed was by an anonymous Leander resident in October 2019 with a $157 million win, as cited by Fox44 News.
