Last weekend, on October 27, the San Diego Field Office of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) made noteworthy seizures - nearly $10 million worth of narcotics at various points of entry.
CBP Director of Field Operations for San Diego, Sidney Aki, commended the officers' vigilance at the San Ysidro, Tecate, and Otay Mesa ports of entry which disrupted the criminal activity, per the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Behind these seizures lies a dangerous reality. Every day, over 150 people fall fatal to drug overdoses, mainly attributed to synthetic opioids like fentanyl - a substance frequently recovered in such operations, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The larger implications of these drug interdictions go beyond mere numbers. While it is challenging to quantify, the positive impacts are felt within communities and families across America. The CBP's achievements in this area indicate the resilience and unity in the battle against drug trafficking.
These significant narcotics seizures reaffirm the CBP's stability and adaptability and applaud the officers' ceaseless efforts to sustain national safety.
