San Diego County is preparing for Thanksgiving Day closures. According to the County News Center, all public offices, resource centers, libraries, and animal shelters will not be operating on the 23rd and 24th. However, essential services such as law enforcement and emergency animal control will continue.

Despite these interruptions, County parks, campgrounds, and neighborhood day-use parks remain open year-round. Yet, specific locations, including Fallbrook Community Center, Lakeside Community Center, and Spring Valley Community Center, will also be shut down on both days.
For those looking forward to camping during the holiday, reservations can be made through the County's Online Camping Reservations webpage. This method is accessible even without County Park and Recreation's phone line.
The Department of Parks and Recreation is promoting a "Green Friday" initiative as an alternative to traditional post-Thanksgiving shopping. The project offers free family-friendly activities at County parks, in lieu of participation in the often stressful Black Friday shopping events.
In addition to the closures, all County public health clinics will not be operating on Thursday and Friday. County animal shelters will resume normal hours on the 25th, and all County offices on the 27th.
The closure of public offices allows community members time to focus on celebrating Thanksgiving.
