
Donald Altmark, 71, passed away under sheriff's custody at Tri-City Hospital on November 12. The San Diego Sheriff's Department has announced an investigation into the circumstances of his death, as per standard protocols for in-custody deaths, per the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
According to San Diego Police Department records, Mr. Altmark was incarcerated on August 9 for a charge of indecent exposure. However, a fall injuring Mr. Altmark led to his transfer to Tri-City Hospital on October 26. There, he received medical attention in the days preceding his demise.
A Tri-City CNA, accompanied by a Sheriff's deputy, found Mr. Altmark unresponsive during a routine vitals check. Despite resuscitation attempts, the hospital staff declared him deceased. The Medical Examiner's Office's official report attributes his death to a heart attack, classifying it as accidental.
