The Pedestrian West facility at the San Ysidro Port of Entry is poised to resume limited northbound operations on Thursday, November 16. Operating from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. daily, the facility aims to facilitate smoother travel despite southbound operations remaining on hold, according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
Mariza Marin, Port Director at the San Ysidro Port of Entry, expressed via the CBP news, "We will continue to support CBP’s overarching border security mission while balancing the needs of the traveling public. Our aim is to facilitate lawful trade and travel while also ensuring the safety and security of thousands from the region who cross the border every day.."
CBP has been working on enhancing the border crossing process with the CBP Border Wait Times website and mobile application. These platforms offer hourly vehicle wait time updates and aim to significantly reduce border-crossing stress for travelers.
The "Know Before You Go" section, available on the CBP website, advises how to avoid penalties related to the transportation of prohibited items.
Moreover, the Trusted Traveler Program endorsed by the Department of Homeland Security offers expedited clearance through CBP for frequent international travelers.
As noted by CBP, the agency persistently reevaluates the border situation and adjusts its operations accordingly. This flexibility in approach ensures a robust response to any scenarios that may undermine border management's efficiency or security.
