Yesterday, an incident on S Desplaines Street resulted in a shootout, involving a 29-year-old victim and three attackers. The scene unfolded following a vehicle collision where the aforementioned individuals approached the victim and initiated gunfire. According to the Chicago Police Department, the victim defended himself and returned gunfire.
The attackers vacated the location in their vehicle, going southbound. The scene was later secured by law enforcement, who found and confiscated the victim's handgun.
The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds, in the right and left leg. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his health status is currently stable. The victim managed to injure one of the attackers in the shootout, potentially offering police a critical lead in their investigation efforts.
However, preliminary investigation into the shooting incident has been met with obstacles. The detained gunman has refused cooperation about his gunshot wound, posing challenges to Area Three detectives in unraveling the incident’s sequence of events. As of now, no further updates have been released from the Chicago Police Department.
