Yesterday, Springfield Police detained two men suspected of a series of vehicle break-ins around Bridge and Main Streets. The arrests highlight persistent vehicle security issues and ongoing efforts to deter them in the local area as reported by Springfield Police.
Eddie Alvarez, 36, a Springfield resident, and Anthony Lanzetti, 37, from Middletown, Connecticut, were both charged with felonious breaking and entering of a vehicle during nighttime hours. Additionally, for facilitating two crimes, Alvarez faces more charges according to the Springfield Police.
Taking relatively simple steps, such as locking doors and windows, avoiding parking in dark areas, and not leaving valuable items visible in the car, can potentially discourage vehicle break-in attempts.
