Today, the City of St. Helena's Public Works Department will initiate repair work on a leaking water main positioned under the Silverado Trail, between Pope Street Bridge and Howell Mountain Road.
However, such repairs inevitably will cause some disruptions to the community of St. Helena. The City of St. Helena's press release alerts drivers to anticipate changes in traffic conditions along the Silverado Trail and comply with imposed control measures. The inconvenience created by these repairs is expected to be short-lived, with the repair work projected to be completed by November 3, thus limiting its effect on the community.
The authorities' decision to carry out the repairs during the night hours, between 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., exposes an effort to strike a balance between meeting essential city needs and respecting the daily routines of residents.
