The WGN-TV reports that the incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. witching hour in the 4700 block of South Loomis Street, in the heart of New City. A 38-year-old man became the latest casualty to the city's relentless violence, his life snuffed out by a gunshot, prompting his vehicle to careen into parked cars and flip onto its roof.
According to The Chicago Sun-Times, the driver sustained a fatal wound to his armpit, and, in a desperate twist of fate, a 6-year-old bore witness to this grim dance as the vehicle met its end in a violent flip. The driver's demise was pronounced in the sterile embrace of a hospital; his journey through this life came to an abrupt end.
While the man's breath was stolen by gunfire, the child, caught in the turmoil, was spared from the bullet's sting. He emerged with injuries sustained from the brutal accident and was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
