Chaos hit the streets of Hutto, Texas, this week in two separate vehicular nightmares that rocked the normally quiet town. In a hair-raising incident on Monday, a semi tractor-trailer collided with a train in a spectacular smash-up that, amazingly, left no one injured. The Hutto Police Department told KXAN, the collision occurred around 1:50 p.m. near the crossroads of Highway 79 and County Road 132, sparking an immediate investigation by local authorities.
Even as the crews sifted through the wreckage and police directed traffic away from the busy intersection, Hutto's harrowing week took another turn for the worse when a school bus, with students onboard, plowed into a house the very next day. According to CBS Austin, the wayward bus was westbound on Star Ranch Boulevard near Winterfield Drive when it veered off its path and ended its unintended journey against the walls of an unsuspecting resident's home.
The crash involving a school bus sent its driver to the hospital while leaving the young passengers shaken but unscathed. The Texas Department of Public Safety, which has taken the lead on this investigation, has yet to determine the causes that prompted the bus to hop the median and barrel through a fence and into private property. The intricate details of these incidents are still unfolding, with both considered active investigations.
