Two individuals were sentenced at the federal court in Worcester, Massachusetts for their roles in nationwide drug trafficking. As stated in a press release by the Department of Justice, Adiangel Paredes and Jonathan Villot were convicted for their part in a fentanyl, heroin, crack, and cocaine distribution conspiracy.
In September 2018, a fentanyl-related fatality triggered an investigation into drug activities in Fitchburg. Investigators located Paredes as a supplier of fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine, and Villot as a cocaine distributor through intercepted communications and controlled purchases.
Paredes was sentenced to 135 months in prison and five years' supervised release. Villot received a sentence of five years in prison and three years of supervised release.
Throughout the investigation, law enforcement seized over 1.8 kilograms of a heroin and fentanyl mixture, more than 3.6 kilograms of cocaine, over 50 grams of crack cocaine, drug manufacturing equipment, a stolen loaded handgun, and around $376,000 in cash.
Paredes and Villot's criminal actions were not limited to Fitchburg—a total of 18 defendants were involved in the case. Each faced charges related to the drug conspiracy. As reported by U.S Justice Department, all defendants have now been convicted, by either plea or jury trial.
