Earlier this month, an unlicensed driver named Jamal Ramos was arrested on multiple charges due to a roadside incident. The event began with a simple mechanical failure—running out of gas—and culminated in a string of criminal charges involving weapons and traffic violations. Trooper Angela Younger from the Massachusetts State Police discovered Ramos stranded on Interstate 91 in Holyoke.

Upon finding Ramos unable to arrange for assistance, Trooper Younger offered to arrange a tow service. An otherwise routine situation took a serious turn when Ramos was found to be driving without a valid license. After confirming his unlicensed status, Trooper Younger proceeded to initiate a standard vehicle inventory before towing.

During the inventory process, Ramos became anxious. This shift in demeanor triggered further scrutiny that led to the discovery of a loaded Galesi-Brescia handgun in the glove box. Ramos could not deliver a valid license for the firearm, which culminated in his arrest.

The charges include unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed firearm possession, and ammunition possession without FID, as stated by the Massachusetts State Police.
