On Wednesday, during a regular patrol, a Worcester Police Department officer noticed a white Hyundai without a front license plate and confirmed through CJIS that the car was uninsured, as stated in the department's press release.
Assisting officers arrived to stop the car on Chandler St. During the interaction, the scenario quickly escalated when a passenger, 20-year-old Osiris Berry, assaulted an officer and attempted to run away. The officer noticed the suspect had a handgun, who was successfully detained on Bancroft St. by additional officers, the press release notes.
According to police officers, a Glock handgun featuring an extended magazine was found near Mr. Berry during his arrest. Charges raised against him include Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Resisting Arrest, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Peace, and Trespass.
Subsequent to the arrest, the uninsured vehicle was towed from the scene. As the case progresses, it's crucial for parties involved in the legal process to concentrate on presenting factual information.
