A burglary attempt was thwarted when the authorities in Worcester apprehended a heavily armed Fitchburg man attempting to forcefully enter a residence on Gibbs Street. The Worcester Police Department reported that around 2:52 AM yesterday, officers took immediate action in response to a distress call reporting a break-in.

Upon arrival, officers saw a woman yelling out the window, saying, “He’s trying to get inside!”. Thirty-two-year-old Oniz Janniere of Fitchburg, the alleged intruder, was quickly detained for questioning. As per the police report, Janniere was caught red-handed attempting to muscle his way into an abode that was not his own.

The police unearthed two double-edged knives in Janniere's possession. A resident had previously countered his approach by wielding a broomstick, pushing him away and quickly securing her refuge with a lock.

Law enforcement confirmed that Janniere now faces a series of charges, including an Attempt to Commit a Crime (Armed Burglary), two counts of Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, Disorderly Conduct, and Disturbing the Peace.
