Thursday night, a fire at an apartment building left 11 people, including four children, without a home, as reported by NBC Miami. The blaze, which erupted at a complex on Southwest 84th Street near Southwest 137th Avenue, spread rapidly.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene. Footage captured by locals shows the intensity of the fire. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is set to be investigated.
The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents, as the flames have rendered their living spaces uninhabitable. According to NBC Miami, the quick action of the first responders prevented any physical harm to the building’s occupants, although the loss of their homes remains a devastating blow.
Additional coverage by WSVN noted that the fire was concentrated on the second floor of the building. Despite the potential for a wider spread, the fire did not affect other units. The apartment where the fire originated was left charred.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
