
Three individuals were taken to the hospital after an SUV involved in a felony from Hendry County crashed during a police chase in Fort Lauderdale early Sunday morning. According to NBC Miami, the pursuit began when Fort Lauderdale Police officers located the suspect vehicle around 3:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of Northeast 62nd Street.
The driver, upon noticing law enforcement, opted to evade the authorities, igniting a high-speed chase through the city. During the pursuit, the suspect lost control, and the vehicle slammed into a concrete power pole. "The driver lost control of the vehicle during the pursuit and crashed into the concrete power pole," said the Fort Lauderdale Police, as per NBC Miami's report. The aftermath then saw three people who were in the SUV transported to North Broward Hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Following the incident, the driver of the vehicle was arrested by the police. The identity of the driver and the specific charges they face have not been disclosed by officials as the investigation is ongoing. CBS Miami added that the crashed SUV was identified as a "felony vehicle" by officials in Hendry County, though they have yet to release further details on the felony connected to the vehicle.
Florida Power & Light teams were dispatched to address the damage and conduct repairs on the affected infrastructure. Traffic was disrupted due to the incident but has since been restored to normal flow, as reported CBS Miami.
