Six lives were tragically snuffed out in a devastating head-on collision on U.S. Highway 67 in Johnson County, with three others left grappling with injuries, authorities confirmed. The violent clash of metal on metal occurred Tuesday around rush hour, pinpointed at the intersection of U.S. 67 and County Road 1119 in the Nemo area, as reported by FOX 4 News.
The Texas Department of Public Safety revealed that the catastrophic event involved a pickup truck and a minivan, spelling doom for both vehicles' occupants. Those injured were airlifted to Fort Worth hospitals, including John Peter Smith Hospital and Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital. Meanwhile, U.S. 67 became a no-go zone stretching between CR 1120 and CR 1234, closed off for hours, as teams labored to scrub the highway of its sudden macabre imprint, according to NBC DFW.
The identities of the deceased have remained under wraps as officials continue peeling through the layers of this incident, which unfolded merely hours after another person was taken by death's hand in an unrelated clash on the same unforgiving stretch of U.S. 67 in Duncanville. The peril of the road, illuminated by the high beam of such repeated tragedies, drew a grim spotlight once again. By-standers have been urged by DPS to give a wide berth to the area of the crash as the process of clearing is underway.
