Allen is about to cut the ribbon on its latest feat in community fitness and fun on January 13 at the Stephen G. Terrell Recreation Center (STRC). An open house event will kick off the festivities starting from noon until 6 p.m., packed with bounce houses for the kids and open gym play for the more athletically inclined, according to the City of Allen

The whole shebang begins in the morning with the ceremonial snip, followed by opportunities for locals to scope out the center's shiny new amenities. This isn't just any gym—it's a colossal 149,000-square-foot behemoth equipped with the latest fitness gadgets, group exercise classrooms, and even an adventure track. But wait, there's more: batting cages, a video gaming area, and the pièce de résistance, The Tree House, a multi-story indoor playground.

Charter members will get exclusive access to the facility from January 14 to the 28th before it opens its doors to the general public on the 29th. The early access period also allows for general membership pre-sales, which means you can still jump on the bandwagon and nab a charter membership up until the opening bash.

Membership has its perks—unlimited access to group classes, priority for the kids in the supervised playroom, and a bag of discounts on various programs and events. "There’s still time to lock in your early access to Terrell Recreation Center!" reminds the City of Allen. Adults can get in on this action for $58 a month, while a youth or senior will shell out $35, and a whole family can enjoy the benefits for $85. Oh, and those signing up post-open house? They'll be looking at a $75 enrollment fee.
