A devastating collision on a Texas highway claimed the lives of five Alpharetta, Georgia residents, including two children, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported. In the crash that occurred Tuesday evening, six individuals were killed, and three were left in critical condition.
The tragic incident took place roughly 45 miles southwest of Fort Worth on the US-67. The Atlanta News First says, a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado reportedly entered the opposing lane in a no-passing zone, resulting in a fatal head-on collision with a 2021 Honda Odyssey. All victims were riding inside the Odyssey, coming from Alpharetta, except the diver who survived, a 26-year-old man now in critical condition.
The 11Alive News detailed that the occupants killed in the crash included a 36-year-old woman, a 64-year-old man, and a 60-year-old woman, along with a 10-year-old boy and a 9-year-old boy. The sixth victim, a 28-year-old man from Irving, Texas, also perished in the crash.
Officials disclosed that three of the nine people involved in the wreck were wearing seatbelts when the accident happened. Adding to the tragedy, the posted speed limit where the two cars collided, which is a 70-mile-per-hour highway, resulted in heavy damage to both vehicles. Two 17-year-olds who were in the Silverado were critically injured, with one needing to be airlifted to nearby hospitals in Fort Worth.
Next of kin notifications are ongoing, in cooperation with Georgia authorities, as reported by Texas DPS. The crash remains under investigation, with further details pending.
