An Atlanta man has been saddled with a hefty charge of terrorism following a theft that spiraled into threats of violence. Maxie Stewart Adams allegedly terrorized a business on Pryor Street after he brazenly declared he'd "shoot up the place" on December 19, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta. Adams is accused of pilfering from a tip jar before making his hasty getaway.
Responding to the robbery call, Atlanta police officials were able to quickly locate Adams, owing to a detailed description provided by an employee of the victimized establishment. An attempt to non-lethally restrain Adams was made, with the officers endeavoring to only deploy their Tasers; however, according to police, the electronic devices failed to subdue the suspect, leading to a physical takedown that preceded the arrest — this development was revealed in WSB-TV’s coverage of the incident.
Adams was charged with theft, a gravely serious charge of carrying out terroristic acts and obstructing justice.
Adams is in custody at the Fulton County Jail pending legal proceedings.
