The Bastrop County Sheriff's Office is on the lookout for a man deemed both 'armed and dangerous', who is wanted for not registering as a sex offender and for evading capture. The man, identified as 34-year-old Hassan Mohammed Saleh Jr., was last seen in the Austin area. According to a release from the sheriff's office reported by FOX 7 Austin, Saleh stands 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 205 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. His last known whereabouts were in Dale, Texas.

In their continued efforts to track down the suspect, authorities believe Saleh might still be close by, possibly hiding out at either of two addresses on Scarlet Oaks Dr. in Dale. The Bastrop Sheriff's Office disclosed in a report obtained by The Austin American Statesman that deputies previously tried, but failed, to apprehend Saleh at 123 Scarlet Oaks Dr. back in April. He has known connections across Travis, Caldwell and Hays counties.

In a background that speaks to the concern of the authorities, Saleh was convicted of sexual assault of a child in January 2011, a charge that originally earned him a sentence of seven years probation. This probation was revoked and amended to five years of confinement in December 2011. The Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office also indicated that in March, Saleh was indicted once more for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements.

Members of the public are urged to exercise caution and report any sightings of Saleh directly to law enforcement. If you have any information that can lead to his capture, please contact the sheriff's office at 512-549-5100 or reach out specifically to Investigator Conor Brown at 512-549-5034. Furthermore, tips resulting in Saleh's arrest may render the tipster eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000 through Bluebonnet Area Crime Stoppers, the sheriff’s office said.
