Austin residents can wave goodbye to the crisp sunshine today as a bout of cooler, wetter weather shuffles into town later this week. Following a mild Tuesday with temperatures in the upper 60s, the National Weather Service is forecasting a downward dip in both mercury levels and moods. By Friday, heavy showers and a possible thunderstorm could deluge the area, with an estimated one-half to two inches of precipitation and even higher amounts in certain pockets, according to the official forecast of the National Weather Service.

The local station KVUE doesn't foresee severe weather from the upcoming system, adding a silver lining to the dark clouds on the horizon. "The good news with this system is that temperatures will be cool, so at this time we don't expect any issues with severe weather as temperatures Friday hover only in the 50s." As showers cease by Saturday morning, a cold front is predicted to sweep through, finally ending the rain, as reported by KVUE.
