Austin residents can expect a medley of weather conditions this week, ranging from scattered showers to a potential thunderstorm on Friday, as reported by the National Weather Service. Today's forecast includes a 30 percent chance of showers, primarily between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., with highs lingering at a cool 58 degrees. The overcast skies are paired with an east-northeast wind traveling at a modest 5 to 10 mph.

As the day transitions into night, hopes to see a clearer sky may be dashed as there's still a lingering 20 percent chance for showers before 7:00 p.m. The cloudiness continues, setting the stage for a low of around 49 degrees, and those northeast winds aren't planning to give up, maintaining their pace at 5:00 to 10 mph. Notes that Thursday should follow the trend of mostly cloudy skies, with temperatures pushing slightly higher, nearing 64 degrees, according to The National Weather Service
However, Friday is looking to be the real showstopper. The forecast is "expected to be our heaviest, most widespread rain event since October," with the chance of precipitation skyrocketing to 80%. The day might start with showers before 1:00 p.m., but between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., Austin could see showers intensifying, potentially developing into a thunderstorm, before reverting to showers post-4 p.m. The expected high is around 63 degrees, with easterly winds persisting at 5 to 10 mph, as per KXAN,
