Austin's own Glen Powell teams up with the ever-radiant Sydney Sweeney in "Anyone But You," a rom-com that's stirring up both laughs and heartfelt moments on the big screen. Powell, known for his role in "Top Gun," is now sweeping viewers off their feet without the need for a fighter jet. Powell described filming in Sydney as "one of the best times I've ever had making a movie," according to a CBS Austin interview.
While heartthrobs in rom-coms are plenty, Powell's striking physique goes beyond the posters, considering he had to maintain an even more ripped body than he had for “Top Gun” — sacrifices included cutting out local favorites like Amy's Ice Cream and the Salt Lick. "I promise to put on my shirt as soon as possible," Powell told CBS Austin.
The chemistry between Powell and Sweeney is one of the film's shining accolades, and it may just be enough to justify their sun-soaked, chiseled poster shoot. Sweeney, for her part, was praised as Powell's near-perfect counterpart. "She's literally one of my favorite people on the planet," Powell said, as reported by CBS Austin.
The film is a "loose adaptation of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing," with Powell and Sweeney portraying the modern iterations of Beatrice and Benedict. The narrative unfolds against the picturesque backdrop of Australia, where their characters meet and engage in witty repartee, in accord with GQ.
