The beloved vegan spot Counter Culture, a diamond in the rough of Austin’s dining scene, is about to shine once again, this time from a new physical location in 2024. Reports says that the establishment that has been serving tongue-tantalizing vegan dishes since 2009 closed its food trailer on Fruth Street on November 25. Meanwhile, proprietor Sue Davis is searing up a storm, setting the stage for a "mid-century diner ambiance" in a new zip, 78723 to be exact, according to Austin Eater.

The vegan community of Austin was briefly shaken when, after a decade on East Cesar Chavez Street, Counter Culture’s lease came to an end in December 2022, with nowhere to relocate given the city's steep prices. Thankfully, the hiatus was short-lived, as Davis fired up a food trailer this spring on the patio of Tweedy’s Bar.

"Through those years, my staff, and I have made many fond memories [and] personal connections with you, our valued customers," Davis expressed in a post stated in CultureMap Austin.
