A Boston man has been handed a prison sentence after pleading guilty to a series of shootings that terrorized Cambridge and Somerville residents over a span of several months, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, Cambridge Police Commissioner Christine Elow, and Somerville Chief of Police Charles Femino announced. The 22-year-old Lennox Pierre-Louis will serve time for incidents that took place in March and June of this year, and one that occurred last December in different neighborhoods.

In a swift capture of justice, Judge James Budreau slammed Pierre-Louis with a 5-6 year sentence for a June shooting, 2 1/2 years for another in March, and a concurrent 5-6 years for the December spree—the sentences ensure he remains behind bars for several years; the charges ranged from armed assault to murder and firearm violations to trafficking cocaine. On June 18, Cambridge cops rushed to the scene at Hurley and Charles Streets, picking through a dozen spent shells and noting the random damage to four vehicles and a building, Pierre-Louis bolted but eventually got nabbed on an unrelated warrant after a car crash, said the Middlesex District Attorney's Office.

Investigators linked Pierre-Louis to an additional two shootings during their probe—one in Somerville where a bullet whizzed dangerously close to a man heading to work, and another in Cambridge that saw bullets striking residences. In all instances, Pierre-Louis was identified as the shooter, leading to charges including attempted assault and battery by discharge of a firearm and illegal firearm possession.

These shootings reflect a tragic and broader crisis of gun violence that District Attorney Ryan pointed out, recognizing the spike in random shootings, particularly among the youth. "These bullets are striking homes and vehicles indiscriminately. Clearly, it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or killed," Ryan emphasized, advocating for a comprehensive approach to tackling the crisis including legislation reforms and community engagement, according to the statement from the District Attorney's office.

Credit goes to the collaborative efforts between the Cambridge Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Section and the Middlesex District Attorney's Office for bringing Pierre-Louis to justice, with Deputy Superintendent Michael Medeiros commending the partnership. Assistant District Attorney Ashlee Mastrangelo and Victim Witness Advocate Teresa Corcoran worked on the prosecution, ensuring that Pierre-Louis's actions did not go unpunished and sending a message about the serious repercussions of gun violence.
