A Bemidji State University basketball player, Colin Thomas Rudolph Schaefer, age 22, finds himself facing legal troubles after being charged with engaging in sexual conduct with a minor he allegedly met on Tinder and Snapchat. Schaefer, from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, is accused of criminal sexual conduct and is navigating the consequent repercussions, according to Fox9.
The 15-year-old involved in the case, whose identity has not been disclosed, provided a recorded statement on or about October 7, 2023, as part of a child sexual abuse investigation. She claimed the pair met on the aforementioned social media platforms and engaged in sexual activities in his car. Verified by charges, it was reportedly the second instance of such an encounter, as reported by Fox9.
Schaefer is still listed as part of the active roster for Bemidji State's Men's Basketball team, although Brian Kortz, Bemidji State’s Associate Athletic Director for External Relations, confirmed that Schaefer is "currently not participating in activities with the team," as per WDIO.
