Blaine residents can now enroll in a new chess class at the Mary Ann Young Center. The class, taught by a volunteer, will teach beginners how to play chess, a game known for enhancing mental agility and patience. This is an opportunity for individuals to engage in a challenging and rewarding intellectual pursuit while fostering community spirit.
Registration is now open for the January sessions slated for Tuesdays—on January 9 and 23, from 1 PM to 3 PM. It's a chance for participants to learn the ropes of one of the world's oldest games. As described by the city's announcement, rookies will get to know their kings from their pawns, and their bishops from their knights, not to mention how to move them effectively across the board, however, strategy comes later.
